Commission Policy

  1. PROCESS: Each commission will follow the process described below:

    1. Negotiatians: The client approaches the artist in this stage and describes the basic concept of their commission. The artist will give an estimated cost and explain all commission policies. Before the process can proceed, the client must read and sign the Commission Policies Contract.

    2. Conceptual Stage: The artist will make simple thumbnails and theoretical sketches of the client’s request during this stage. The client will pick their desired composition, color scheme, and submit all specific requests during this stage. Once a plan is formulated, the artist will determine the final commission cost (estimates below).

    3. Sketch Stage: The artist will complete the final sketch during this stage. The client will approve the final sketch or request any final alterations.

    4. Block Detail Stage: The artist will block in color and value. Final opportunity for alterations.

    5. Illustration Stage: The artist will complete the piece during this stage to the extent of all agreed upon details. When the piece is complete the client must pay the commission price (detailed below) and the shipping cost (detailed below) and the piece will be shipped directly to them.

  2. The amount of payment for a commission will be negotiated based upon the desired piece’s dimensions, medium, and subject complexity. All commissions will cost a minimum of $30. Below, estimates are listed regarding which aspects will be more or less expensive:

    1. Low Cost (~$30 to $70)

      1. Watercolor only

      2. Sketch/Thumbnail art only

      3. Single subject w/ no background

      4. Abstract florals

      5. Up to ~80 inches squared

    2. Medium Cost (~$70 to $150)

      1. Multimedia

      2. Acrylic paintings

      3. Pet portraits

      4. Single subject with simple background

      5. Geometric subjects (ex. architecture)

      6. Up to ~216 inches squared

    3. High Cost (+$150)

      1. Oil paintings

      2. Human portraits

      3. Full composition (multiple subjects, conceptual works, complex backgrounds/lighting)

      4. Labor intensive pieces

      5. Greater than 216 inches squared

  3. Payment will be completed via Venmo, cash, or Pay Pal. For pieces costing over $50, 50% of the final cost must be paid upfront, the remaining cost will be paid upon completion. No other method of payment will be accepted.

  4. The artist will not accept any commissions with subjects of NSFW, political idologies, fan art, AI images, or hateful imagery. The artist may also refuse any commissions that fall in a gray area if she so chooses.

  5. ALTERATIONS: During the commission process, the artist will send progress photos at each stage. During the conceptual stage, the client may still request major alterations, and the final cost will be renegotiated for each alteration. Once the final sketch is complete, the client may still request simple compositional changes, but no major subject alterations can occur at that stage. During the illustration process, the client may request basic color and/or lighting changes, but no compositional changes. Once the piece is finished, only minor changes may be requested and it is up to the artist’s discretion whether they can be implimented.

  6. The artist will not be involved in the framing or installation process.

  7. SHIPPING: All pieces will be shipped via Fed-Ex. Pieces will be packaged in a waterproof bag and protected as best as possible. The client must cover the cost of shipping, this will be shared promptly after the completion of the piece and the piece wil be shipped as soon as the shipping cost and commission price have been paid.

    1. A piece will not be shipped until the shipping cost and commission price have both been paid. If a client refuses to pay one or both of those costs, they will not recieve the piece and will be barred from any future business with the artist.

  8. RIGHTS: All rights of reproduction of the piece are retained by the artist. The artist may still use the piece for self-promotional purposes. The client may exhibit and digitally display the piece so long as the piece’s creation is correctly attributed to the artist.

    1. Pieces may NOT be used in AI training sets without the artist's permission.

  9. CANCELLATIONS: Cancellations may be incurred at any time before the illustration stage (conceptual stage, sketching stage, block details, illustration stage) and any upfront costs will be refunded. If a piece is cancelled during the illustration stage, the client will be charged 50% of the agreed upon final cost, but will not be required to pay the remaining cost. Clients may NOT cancel orders after the piece has been shipped and there will be no refunds at that point.

    1. If a piece were to be damaged in the mail, the client may either mail back the piece for free repair or a replacement can be made for 50% of the cost of the first piece.

  10. PRIVACY: The artist will share all final pieces online. The client’s identity will not be disclosed in any such posts unless specifically requested. Clients may only prohibit the sharing of a piece if the piece contains individually identifiable faces (ex. portraits) or identifiable locations (ex. an illustration of the client’s home).
